Use Foam Blocks As Custom Seats And Learning Tools

Foam blocks can be used to create custom seats for your preschool class to sit upon during circle time or another quiet activity. Blocks that contain primary colors and that each bear the name of one of your students will coincide with the learning atmosphere that you are promoting.

Big Foam Blocks

Foam blocks that are large in size may be designed to hold a considerable amount of weight. A block set may contain foam pieces that children can climb upon. Shop for blocks that contain flat sides and washable covers. Each block should be able to rest firmly upon the flooring that is in your classroom. If the blocks that you purchase come in a reusable bag or box, the storage container can be used in your classroom. At the end of each class session, you can advise the students to place their seats inside of the bag or box.

Custom Features

Laminated names and pictures can be secured to the outside of each block. If you would like the children to take part in customizing their blocks, prepare name tags and pictures that the children can decorate. Afterward, use laminating sheets to prepare a protective cover for each name or picture. Affix velcro pieces to the backside of each laminated item.

Secure velcro strips to the sides of the blocks. Affix one name and one or more pictures to each foam block. Set up the blocks in a circle formation along the flooring that comprises the area where circle time or another quiet activity will take place. The blocks can be used during times when you will be telling the children stories or whenever you would like to speak directly to your class.

Other Uses

Besides using the foam blocks as custom seats, they can be used as learning tools. All of the names and pictures that were attached to the blocks can be used to help the children learn how to write or identify various things that they may encounter in everyday life.

If you would like to use the blocks as teaching aids, line them up along the floor. Request that the children participate in some recognition activities. The children can be directed to stand in front of their classmates and point out the letters that you request of them. You can also ask the children to find specific pictures on the blocks or to describe the characteristics of them.
